Gallop & Grind duathlon in the Outdoor Capital of the UK
This years Gallop and Grind will be held on Saturday 29th September 2012
'GALLOP AND GRIND UPDATE
This years Gallop and Grind will be held on Saturday, 29th September, for the fifth year running and with something for everyone this years event promises to be bigger and better than ever before. Once more the event will be made possible by the generous sponsorship from Marine Harvest, Ferguson Transport, Maclean Electricals and MacPhee and Partners.
Again this year all entrance fees and money raised go directly to the events charity The Sharon Fraser Memorial Trust Fund, Cancer Care in the Highlands. Funds raised from last years event are already making a difference to the lives of families whose lives are touched by cancer. This year £5,000 from the Gallop and Grind event has been donated to the Inverness branch of CLIC Sargeant, a charity that provides support to children and young people who have cancer. The funds donated will be specifically used to provide a much need all inclusive holiday for 5 families, living in Highlands, to CLIC Sargeants holiday house in Prestwick. In addition, further monies raised from Gallop and Grind 2011 have been used to support our local Maggies Centre in Raigmore. The sum of £4,070 was donated to Maggies recently to fund one year of nutrition and Tai chi workshops, which will greatly improve the quality of life for patients with cancer.
The Gallop and Grind committee would like to take this opportunity to express our sincere thanks to all sponsors, participants, and volunteers who have contributed so much, to the success of previous events.

The event has attracted over 700 participants in past years. Participants can choose to take part in the walk, non-competitive duathlon or competitive duathlon, or just turn up to watch and offer moral support.
