Event Vision - by Sharon Fraser
“My journey has required sometimes long stays in both the Belford Hospital, Fort William and the Oncology Ward at Raigmore Hospital, Inverness. During the early stages of my treatment, when returning to normality seemed a million miles away, I dreamt of being able to "give up" some of my time towards raising monies that could help support the care of cancer patients requiring hospital admissions in the Highland area along with the care offered by the local MacMillan team. I feel very privileged as I now have the opportunity to achieve my goal and invite you too to "give up" your Saturday in support of caner care in the Highlands.
I hope that we can raise significant amounts of money. My vision for Gallop and Grind is for it to becomes an annual event that will continue to raise money in years to come that can be used to support cancer care in the Highlands and be donated to various causes committed to beating cancer.
With a sports background and an avid interest in promoting physical activity, I was passionate about putting together an event that would reflect my own personal interests and experience. With the help and expertise of the No Fuss Events team I believe that we have created an event that will be accessible to all, regardless of age, experience or fitness level. It will create a personal challenge for the more elite athlete as well as those who want to use it to kick start a more healthy lifestyle whether it be to become more active, lose weight, stop smoking etc—all positive things that can initiate major lifestyle changes and impact positively on daily life.
I also see us facilitating an event that will hopefully create a common bond amongst participants united in their own desire to give something back to the Belford Hospital or the Oncology Ward whether it be through personal experience or in support or memory of a friend or relative.
Whilst we are not asking participants to raise a minimum amount of money to guarantee entry to Gallop and Grind, I would be most grateful if you could help to raise as much as you are able to, whether it be through friends, relatives, work mates, or indeed local businesses.
I urge everyone out there to "give up" some of your time to support Gallop and Grind. Please 'give up' your Saturday in support of Cancer Care in The Highlands.”
Cancer does not give up but you have a choice…...
